E-gold.com is not your common street banks. You can't directly see it and touch it. And very likely your government does not guarantee it. So, is it safe? I can say it's the same like our life. Do we live forever? The same answer goes to e-gold.com. Meaning, for some reasons we can loose everything we have there.
Some scenarios we can loose our saving at e-gold.com:
1. A desperate-for-money government frozen the e-gold account for whatever (noble) reasons. (Who knows? It happened to other payment processor ;))
2. A super sophisticated hacker hacks the e-gold. (Not that easy but still possible)
3. E-gold owner going AWOL. (Very, very unlikely)
4. You've been key logged or directed to a fake e-gold.com site and then involuntary surrender your username and password. (Very, very, very likely)
